about

Man, I had the idea for this song for fucking EVER. I just thought the title was so funny that I had to make a whole song based around it, and I finally got to it two years after its conception. I really hope people know I'm being ironic when I say Jay-Z is an ethical billionaire lmfao.

I was really listening deeply to some Squarepusher, trying to figure out what kind of tricks he was using to make his amen break programming sound so much more complex, when I realized the little trick he was doing to make it sound so much heavier and full. Basically he takes the small chunk of the sample, where just the ride cymbal is being hit (plus the parts with the ghost hits on the snare), and plays it on every eighth note, as well as programming the kick and snare (which already have a ride cymbal being played over every hit. It's kinda overwhelming but it sounds good as fuck. Plus just a lot of other tiny things to make the drums stand out. Tom Jenkinson is a musical genius.

My friend & mentor William (A.K.A. reg.barkley A.K.A. RGB F.K.A. Willing) was a huge help in finishing this track. The original version had a pretty glaring problem in hindsight, the bass had too much distortion on it, and it really muddied out the rest of the mix. He also gave me some advice on how to cut the bass out so it isn't as repetitive, and how to master the track to really make it sing. Eternally thankful for him and his contribution, he really knows his shit.
